An ornate vintage brass letter opener with richly cast Renaissance Revival decoration.
Measuring 8 inches long, the letter opener features an elaborate grotesque-style terminal surrounded by scrolling foliate ornament, with dense arabesque decoration extending along the length of the blade. The reverse has been left undecorated, emphasizing the relief work of the face.
The warm, aged surface and unusual historicist design give it considerably more character than a typical desk accessory. A beautiful small object for a writing desk, library or collected interior.
