Vintage French edition of Joseph Peyré’s Les Lanciers de Jerez, published in Paris by Laurent Rombaldi in 1971.
Originally published in 1961, the historical novel is set against the Peninsular War and Napoleonic era in Spain. This handsome later edition combines Peyré’s novel with extensively illustrated historical material relating to the period.
Beautiful burgundy faux-leather binding with extensive gold gilt decoration, including fleur-de-lis, military and heraldic motifs. The decorative endpapers feature coats of arms, while the interior contains numerous black-and-white portraits, paintings and historical illustrations.
Measures approximately 8.5 × 5.5 inches.
Very good vintage condition with light shelf wear and minor rubbing consistent with age. There is a small amount of wear at the corners and edges, but the gilt remains bright and the interior presents very nicely. Please review photographs closely for condition.
