Provenance: Each volume bears the personal library bookplate of Frederick Everard Lind, Jr., M.D. (1932–2017), a prominent Louisiana physician. A New Orleans native, Dr. Lind earned his chemistry degree and medical degree from Tulane University before serving in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon. While stationed in England, he rose to Chief Surgeon at Ruislip Hospital and was consulted by the personal physician of Queen Elizabeth II on three cases.
After returning to Louisiana, Dr. Lind taught at LSU Medical School before establishing his practice in Baton Rouge. He delivered more than 8,000 babies during his career and was an Original Guarantor and founding physician of Woman’s Hospital of Baton Rouge, where he later served as Chief of Staff. He retired in 1990 after a distinguished career in Louisiana medicine.
