Striking Spanish Colonial giltwood heraldic-form mirror frame dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. The dramatic winged composition is inset with cobalt blue glass and antique mirrored panels, centering a small oil on canvas portrait identified as “Antoino de Mendoza.” Richly carved and gilt throughout, the frame displays the bold decorative character associated with Spanish Colonial ecclesiastical and aristocratic interiors.
An exceptional architectural statement piece with strong visual presence and rare survival of its original mirrored and blue glass elements.
