A wonderfully dramatic oversized Neoclassical-style urn with a rich faux mahogany finish and gilt decoration. The urn is surrounded by sculptural ram’s heads and supported by elaborate acanthus-form mounts, resting on a substantial square plinth decorated with floral swags.
This is a later 20th-century decorative piece crafted from resin/composite materials, but the scale and detailing give it incredible presence. A fantastic statement piece for an entryway, library, large mantel or layered traditional interior.
The removable lid is topped with an artichoke-form finial. One chip is present along the lid, consistent with age and use and shown in the photographs.
