Beautiful antique expandable book slide / book rack featuring ornate cast iron ends with raised fruit basket, floral and foliate decoration. The design is associated with H.L. Judd Manufacturing Co. book racks of the early 20th century, and both cast ends bear the molded pattern number 9921. No separate maker’s name was observed, so attribution is based on the design and pattern number.
The decorative ends retain an attractive aged bronze-toned finish and patina, with brass-toned telescoping rods that allow the rack to expand for a larger grouping of books.
Measures approximately 7.5 inches long when compressed and 14 inches long when fully extended.
Good antique condition with age-related surface wear, oxidation and patina. The rack has a slight lean/wobble when standing, which is reflected in the condition and should be noted. It remains functional and displays beautifully. Please review photos closely for condition.
