Original antique Christian religious print dating to 1888, depicting the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus.
The original text on the reverse reads in part, “But when I saw this woman, and this little infant with her.” The complete passage identifies the infant specifically as Jesus and relates to an apocryphal account of the childhood of Christ involving miraculous healing.
This illustration originates from The Beautiful Story: A Companion Book to the Holy Bible by J. W. Buel, published in 1888, an extensively illustrated 19th-century religious volume featuring Biblical and early Christian religious narratives.
Measures approximately 10 1/2 inches tall × 8 inches wide overall.
This is an original antique printed sheet from the 1888 publication, not a modern reproduction. Currently protected in a clear sleeve. Antique condition with expected toning and age-related wear.
Beautiful piece of antique Christian and Catholic religious art featuring the Virgin Mary and Christ Child, ideal for framing, church or home decor, a prayer space, or a collection of 19th-century religious prints.
