Original antique Christian religious print dating to 1888, depicting the Virgin Mary teaching the young Jesus the alphabet.
The original caption identifies the scene as “Mary Teaching Jesus the Alphabet.” The intimate domestic scene shows Mary seated with the Christ Child outside a home, presenting a tender depiction of the childhood and education of Jesus.
This illustration originates from The Beautiful Story: A Companion Book to the Holy Bible by J. W. Buel, published in 1888, an extensively illustrated 19th-century religious volume featuring Biblical scenes and Christian imagery.
Measures approximately 10 1/2 inches tall × 8 inches wide overall.
This is an original antique printed sheet from the 1888 publication, not a modern reproduction. Currently protected in a clear sleeve. Antique condition with expected toning and age-related wear as photographed.
Beautiful piece of antique Christian and Catholic religious art featuring the Virgin Mary and young Jesus. Wonderful for framing, church or home decor, a prayer space, or a collection of 19th-century religious prints.
