An original 1826 London printing of An Inquiry into the Origin of the Laws and Political Institutions of Modern Europe, Particularly Those of England, by George Spence, published by John Murray of Albemarle Street.

This nearly 200-year-old volume explores the influence of ancient Roman law on the legal and political institutions of England and continental Europe. An interesting early 19th-century work for collectors of legal history, European history, and antiquarian books.

Bound in worn brown cloth with gilt spine lettering. The front cover bears an early handwritten ownership inscription dated 1853.

The book is in heavily worn antique condition, with extensive rubbing and losses to the covers, fraying along the spine and corners, age-toned pages, and significant weakness and separation at the front binding. The book should be handled carefully. Completeness has not been verified.

An uncommon early legal history volume with considerable age and character, offered in its present condition.
